2020 COVID-19 RESPONSE

2020 certainly has been a year of challenges and changes. The Driftless Half Marathon, Relay, and 5k is no different. We are making every effort to ensure a safe, fun, in-person event. In light of the pandemic, we are taking our preparations for a successful event seriously. We need our participants to help us achieve this goal.

A new proclamation is released monthly. With each new one, changes can be made that would force us to cancel an in-person race. If that were to happen, participants can choose to join us virtually or to defer their registration to our 2021 event.

Given current circumstances, we are unsure exactly what race day will look like. We will know more come September. This is what we know so far:

  • All participants will be asked to sign a COVID-19 waiver before receiving their bib and race shirt.

  • A mask/face covering must be worn AT ALL TIMES (except while running). This includes at packet pick up. Please be responsible adults, no littering of masks is acceptable.

  • Expect to have your temperature checked at packet pick up and on race day.

  • Half marathoners are encouraged to be dropped off at the start.

  • A virtual half marathon option is available for those wishing to run at home but still want to receive the swag.

  • Volunteers will likely be absent. Expect a self supported event.

  • We will have five (5) unmanned water stations along the course. Runners are encouraged to bring their own containers.

  • Hand sanitizer and hand washing stations will be available at numerous locations.

  • We will not be hosting a breakfast for our 2020 event.

  • Expect all aspects of the race to be outdoors, this includes packet pick up. Dress accordingly.

  • 2020 will be a capped event. 180 for the half, 20 for relay (10 teams), 50 for the 5k.

Each individual is responsible for their own health. Please refrain from attending if you have any of the following symptoms: fever/chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle soreness, headache, new loss of taste/smell, congestion/runny nose, sore throat, nausea/vomiting, or diarrhea.

Updates will be posted. Please check back often to stay up to date with the event.
